On Saturday, June 15, 2024, Trapper Jon's Knives opened its doors at 16350 Blanco Road, Suite 129, in San Antonio. From 11 to 5, the shop welcomed its first Texas customers under new ownership.
The day marked the third chapter in the shop's history. Founded by Jon Carpenter in New Hampshire in 1985, relocated to Sierra Vista, Arizona in 2000, and acquired by Carlos Lucio in 2023, Trapper Jon's returned to business under a new roof and a new city but the same name, the same makers, and the same standard of curation that had defined it for four decades.
Two knives from a popular brand went home with two visitors by the end of the day. Shop swag left with everyone. Jon Carpenter himself was on hand to mark the transition a passing of the shop from one steward to the next.
It was the beginning of a Texas chapter.
